Galiya Kambarbekova is senior lecturer at the Department of Middle East and South Asia, Faculty of Oriental Studies Al-Farabi University, Almaty, Kazakhstan.The major area of her interest is codicology – the study of manuscripts and their inter-relationships.

She has been engaged in cataloging of Muslim written heritage in Persian and Turkish languages; Persian and Turkic written sources related to the history and culture of Iran, India and Central Asia; Persian manuscripts related to the history of Kazakh khanate, diplomacy of Kazakh Khanate and Central Asian rulers, catalogying of Persian and Turkic manuscripts, the critical texts (Persian and Turkic), Sufism, Sufi written sources, translation of Persian and Turkic manuscripts with scientific commentaries and other related areas. She is the author of four monographies and 60 scientific publications in Kazakh, Russian, English, Persian languages.
